Both my girls are fans of classic rock as well as new stuff. I expose them to the old stuff while they keep me hip to the new. I constantly drill them when the radio is playing classic rock, "Who is this and how did they die?"

My oldest collects old albums and album sleeves and hangs them on her wall. I had her collecting LOTR figs too for a while but she's kinda backed off on that.

Considering that both my sons are now wanting figures (like one wasn't bad enough)
At least the oldest is 15 and understands how to take care of them, and had his tastes, mostly Spawn & SW but the other little dude is 6
and explaining that "certain figures that Dad has aren't good to play with" (Sin City's 'Gail' comes to mind right now) can get a bit interesting.
For what it's worth, my Dad was an obsessive antique collector. So yeah, I blame genetics.
(At least it's a lame excuse I can give my wife who's ready to start putting arsenic in my coffee)

My kids and I like a lot of the same stuff (which is great because I couldn't relate to MY parents at all! ). So we expose each other to music, hobbies and whatever. They both like collecting figures but extra cash is usually in pretty short supply for them.

Alyssa has a part time job, that pays so little for her that they pay her in cash. last time she got paid, she put it all into getting albums for her collection. might have to take her to a garage sale or two to try and find a stack of the cheap for her.

My Mother and father both gave me that gene.. Dad's into older cars, though right now his project is resotring a 77 Trans am, but other then that for him it's mostly classic rock stuff.. Mom, on the other hand, has and always will be big on nic nacs (Hummels and those type of things) and used to, though she doesn't really have the money for them anymore, collect porcelain baby dolls. My little girl (as I like to think of her) has already been subject and started at the age of 1.. She's big on Care bears thanks to me

I seem to infect those around me or everywhere I go.. I somewhat got Mort started on the collecting as a serious hobby, and I've already got my own turned into a Monster (I was debating last night on ordering the 18" Legolas from Corner store comics and had the site up.. She took over the laptop and started looking through the site going "Ooooooooooo, I like that" or "I want one of those!")
